A carnal mind is a natural mind that centralise its thoughts on its senses. The carnal mind is that which is completely insensitive to spiritual things. The carnal mind is totally out of the spiritual bearing. Every believer lives to please God, therefore It’s of utmost importance for us to understand Why the carnal mind is enmity with God.

What Does it Mean To Be Carnal
To be carnal means to be more sensitive to the things of the flesh than of the spirit. It means to be sensual, fleshly.
What is The Biblical Meaning Of Carnal Mind
If you’ve set your mind on the things of the flesh you are carnally minded. Carnal is where we get the word “meat” from. Carne is the Spanish word for meat and we see that to be carnally minded is to live after the things that animals live for.
The Carnal Mind Is Enmity Against God
Man is a spirit that lives in the body and has a soul. The real man is a spirit that God created in his own image. The flesh is just a house that accommodates the man who is a spirit.
The mind is a functional system buried in the flesh, coordinated by the central nervous system. The central nervous system is where emotions originates. This is where we have feelings too.
The important point to note here is that everything connected to the central nervous system opposes the principles of God. Therefore God himself cannot have anything to do with it.
and these are the major reasons why the mind is enmity against God.
Why The Carnal Mind Is Enmity Against God
For example; the entire central nervous system of the body works by feelings. The flesh or the body interprets everything around it according to the feelings, The natural man sees things just as they are presented, but a spiritual mind sees things in accordance with the word of God.
Therefore every believer born of God has to work by faith which is seeing things with the mind of God. The mind of God is the word of God.
but God does not work by feelings, God works by faith. God calls the things that be not as though they were, and those things will come to pass.
This is where the opposition lies; the carnal mind depends on feelings, what it sees, to determine diverse outcome, but God works by faith. These are two opposing ends of believe.
Two cannot work except they agree. The carnal mind is enmity against God because it cannot agree with God based on its believe system which is contrary to the word of God. God opperate strictly based on the word of God.
The Carnal Mind Does Not Understand The Things Of The Spirit
There are two categories of men. We have the natural man and we also have the spiritual man. The natural man is the carnal man, completely insensitive to the things of the spirit. This is another reason why the carnal mind is enmity against God.
On the opposite, the spiritual man is totally sensitive to the things of the spirit and less sensitive to natural things.
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 1 Corinthians 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
God is a spirit, your flesh is flesh. They are two opposites. The flesh will always fight the spirit, naturally. They are two opposing ends, positive and negative. They can never agree. The lack of agreement in many things is why the carnal mind is enmity against God.
The bible simply say you just have to die to the flesh, this is the only state you can cope with the flesh successfully. This simply mean you being transform by renewing your mind. Naturally the flesh of every man controls the mind.
Your mind is a member of your flesh not a member of your spirit. Your mind is embedded in the flesh, forms part of the flesh.
The Flesh Uses Your Mind To Coodinate Its Members or Organs
The flesh is your emotions, your feelings, your thoughts. They are the one that naturally mold’s the character. Everything that has to do with your feelings, emotions and thought are contrary to God and His word.
Well the truth is that we were never born with the word of God, but we were born with feelings, emotions, thoughts. Hence after being born again, you just have to learn the word.
Being born of God does not remove your thoughts, emotions and feelings, it only affected or change in your spirit.
Your spirit was dead before you were born again. It means the real you was dead to God and alive to your feelings, thoughts, emotions. Your ability to access God was completely blocked, that road was closed.
The death of Jesus opened the way. Since your access to God was blocked, it means the real you was dead, Once the spirit of a man is cut off from God, that spirit is termed dead. God is the father, the creator of all spirits, therefore the moment a spirit is disassociated from God, that spirit is dead.
So once you are born again, Jesus brings life to your spirit, quickens it and give it the ability or potential to access God, communicate with God and thereby receive from God.
Now because of this salvation, God is suppose to live in your spirit, your relationship with God is now ignited, but your thoughts, emotions and feelings which are members of your flesh is fighting the growth of your relationship with God. This is the major reason Why the carnal mind is enmity against God.
Something must be done to term your thoughts, emotions and feelings, by also making them inactive just the way your spirit was made inactive when you were not born again. This is the only way your relationship with God can flourish.
Those guys will just have to keep quiet and allow you have your way. AND THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN HAPPEN IS BY USING THE WEAPON OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORD OF GOD.
THIS IS THE TRANSFORMATION, THIS IS THE RENEWING OF THE MIND. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN BE DEAD TO THE FLESH AND ALIVE TO THE SPIRIT.
SO THE FLESH IS NOT PART OF THE SPIRIT. HENCE THE FLESH can never be spiritual.
Whatever Is Not Spiritual Can Never Be Perfect.
If you cannot think like God, you can never be perfect. The flesh is physical and does not have the tendency to be a spirit. Developing the mindset of God has nothing to do with the canal mind.
It cannot exist in the spirit form. Anything that is not a spirit can never be spiritual, and this is another reason why the carnal mind is enmity against God .
God cannot use the flesh for anything, God cannot communicate with it, the flesh will never be able to understand God. God can only communicate with your spirit which is the real you and that is because God is a spirit too.
God never created your flesh in his own image, God created your spirit in his own image, so the real man is a spirit and that is who God want to relate. Your flesh was just to shelter you or accommodate you. Another reason why the carnal mind is enmity against God.
You do not relate with your house but with the people in the house.
What Verse Says The Carnal Mind Is Enmity Against God?
Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. Romans 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
How To Be Spiritually Minded
Step #1. Be Born Again

Step #2. Get The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit

Step #4 – Renew Your Mind With Regular Study Of The Word Of God
Your mind was carnal before you were born again and your mind will still be carnal after you get born again.
Thst is why the bible advise us in Romans 12 to renew our mind. To renew your mind means to change your thought pattern completely from that of a natural man or a carnal mind to the mind of God.
