LOVE has attributes, if somebody says he loves you, watch out if these attributes are present. Love is saying it the way God says and doing it the way God does it. First, a quick look at the bible passage
1 Corinthians 13
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
Characteristics Of True Love
These attributes will determine if someone loves you or is lusting after you to get something and vanish. Please you must use all the attributes must be present at the same time for you to conclude.
Conduct different test to prove that all the attributes are present before you can conclude someone truly loves you, because naturally, someone lusting after you will be even over generous to you, hence if you use kindness alone to judge, you will be deceived.
#1. LOVE IS KIND
Kindness is the first of the characteristics of true love. IF somebody truly love you, he will be kind, generous, he will be nice, caring, sympathetic, and thoughtful, he will be benevolent. This means he will be adding to your life, he will be contributing, positive, the person is coming to be a blessing.
God love the world and he gave his only.
Meaning, giving must be sacrificial. The level of giving shows how much you love. If you are to love God with all your heart, your mind, your soul, your might, it will reflect in your level of giving to him, supporting his work.
Loving and giving are synonymous. If the bible says you must love God with all your heart, mind, soul, heart, then when you are giving to God you must give with all your soul, heart, mind, might,
#2. LOVE IS PATIENT
When you make mistake, he will not carry stick. Relationship is two opposites coming together. Naturally you expect conflicts, they are coming from different background, different tribes, different communities, it may be different countries.
How will they understand each other easily? One might never have been to where the other is from. How do you understand their perception, their thought pattern, what they like and what they don’t?
They just have to be patient with one another to learn, adapt and blend. This will definitely take quite some time.
There is an element of understanding here, they must understand with each other.
#3. LOVE ENDURES
Endurance is the third of the characteristics of true love. This is the ability to tolerate, withstand, bear, and suffer. This is part of the sacrifice. Nobody is above mistake, and no one knows it all, so there will be mistakes, a lot of mistakes, and within time they will all be corrected.
Capacity to endure is another one of the characteristics of true love.
Relationship or marriage is build. Generally people grow. Some people are more exposed than others. We do not expect everybody to have lived in America, Europe, and Asia.
Not everybody can afford that, but the more exposed you are, the less mistake. Mistake comes from lack of knowledge, and this kind of knowledge is not necessarily from school.
I am able very many things that I have never been thought, how? It means I am exposed, it means I have been to many environments, and I have seen many people do so many things, and I have developed a knowledge base of how many things are done.
To endure also mean to stomach, sustain, undergo. You are not enduring when you have to complain about person you are relating with to outsiders. You need to stomach their mistakes; keep it to yourself, do not try to sell them out or disgrace, this is not love.
I do not need to have done them before, but when I have to do them for the first time, I will not be a novice. This is how people developed creativity, build up intellectual capacity.
When you come in contact with people that are not exposed, you have to endure them and be patient to teach because they will be making many mistakes.
#4. LOVE IS LONG-SUFFERING
THIS IS the ability to keep forgiving, no matter how many the mistakes or how big. The right word here is to accommodate. This mean you make up your mind to live with the person like that, irrespective of his or her shortcomings.
Almost everybody has one weakness or the other. Longsuffering is the ability to accommodate each other’s weaknesses even without expecting any change at the long run.
The truth is that some weaknesses may never change. You have to make up your mind to tolerant whether they change or not. Just leave time out of this. That is why it is called longsuffering.
This is one of the most endearing and sacrificial characteristics of true love
If you truly love a person, you should love him or her with the weakness. You cannot say “I love this person but he is dark” no, the correct thing is, “I would have loved this person but for the fact that he is dark”
You should love people with all their limitations and weaknesses.
#5. LOVE BEARS ALL THINGS
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
The living bible says; 7 If you love someone, you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. To bear means to be loyal, to stay loyal, irrespective of. it means to tolerate, to stand with, to stomach. Ability to bear all things is one of the characteristics of true love.
It also mean to accept, to allow, to swallow, to abide, to endure. These are the yardstick to watch out for if somebody tells you i love you. Love must always be proven. Love is faith with works, never faith without works
#6. LOVE REJOICE NOT IN INIQUITY
Love doesn’t work against God, love is never a rebel. God hates sin, that’s why true love will always hate sin to compliment as one of the characteristics of true love.

Alwsys standing for, happily defending the truth is another one of the characteristics of true love.
#8. LOVE BELIEVES ALL THINGS
Trust is another one of the characteristics of true love.

Hope is one of the key characteristics of true love.
#10. LOVE IS NOT EASILY PROVOKED
Not easily irritated. Naturally, getting easily irritated or being angry always has serious health hazards. In other words, the person that love is somebody that smiles always.
Happy always. When you are happy always, it shows you are aware that God is in control all the time. As one of the characteristics of true love one must not easily provoked.
Humor is infectious. Laughter is far more contagious than any cough, sniffle, or sneeze. When laughter is pooled, it unites people and surges happiness and intimacy.
Happiness triggers healthy physical changes in the body. Humor and laughter strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, diminish pain, and protect you from the damaging effects of stress.

#11. LOVE THINKS NO EVIL
If you meet people that invest their time to think evil, they are never happy, no peace. This is exactly what the bible says, that there is no peace for the wicked. Thinking evil is not among the characteristics of true love.

#12. LOVE DOES NOT SEEK HIS OWN
Selfishness is not one of the characteristics of true love. Love is not selfish, it will always fight for the good of others. Love will rather deny itself for others.
Just like Jesus died for the world, he died for both the godly and the ungodly. Jesus died for his enermies to live too. In other words his love was extended even to his enermies.
Jesus did not live for himself but for others, he rendered a selfless service to humanity. He denied himself every comfort for all to be comfortable.
#13. LOVE HOPES ALL THINGS
Hope is one of the characteristics of true love. It always believe it will be better, believe in the future, this is loyalty, trust in a person.
#14. LOVE DOES NOT ENVY
Love is not jealous, greedy bitter against nor have resentment. Envy is not one of the characteristics of true love.
#15. LOVE DOES NOT PUFFED UP
This is another characteristics of true love because love cannot be found wanting, panting, gasping, wheezing winding, trying to twist things or lie and in the process lack what to say.
#16. DOES NOT VAUNT ITSELF
It means it does not brag, boast nor try to promote himself. This is a sign of humility too. That makes it a characteristics of true love.
